Thirteen paintings, ranging from 21 × 14 inches to 84 × 144 inches, that explore water and fluidity both formally and metaphorically as a way of processing the world. Painting, like submerging, alters perception: large brushes, layered pigments, and scale move the body from one state to another. The series merges a portraiture practice grounded in Renaissance anatomical tradition with a deep attachment to the natural world.

Water is mediator, transformer, and conduit between human bodies and the natural world. Carefully observed features dissolve into gestural brushstrokes, producing a dance between the presence of the subject and the presence of the artist's own interventions. Each portrait therefore carries an edge of self-portraiture, flickering in and out of focus. The paintings ask viewers to question the stability of their own identities and the narratives they construct about others — and, faced with that instability, to recognize the universality of perpetual change.
