Conjectures, a large work in silverpoint, charcoal, acrylic and oil on raw linen, after the Laocoön. The painting sets marble against flesh to separate what was unearthed from what was restored, and questions what was built on the statue: Pliny's single block, Winckelmann's calm, Lessing's limits on painting.
